About Washington Contemporary Ballet
Founded in 1987, Washington Contemporary Ballet is dedicated to the pursuit of educating our students in the understanding and appreciation of all forms of dance.  The Washington Contemporary Ballet School admits students of any race, color, creed, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available at the school. 
School Philosophy
Washington Contemporary Ballet is unique among area dance organizations in its commitment to providing a solid background to its students in the historical, artistic, and technical areas dance. In conjunction with this philosophy, Washington Contemporary Ballet provides a permanent teaching program with diverse curriculum in dance forms and related subjects for students at non-professional levels of training. The cultural impact of this philosophy goes well beyond the training in the classroom.

The exposure it provides the community through public performances, benefit concerts, and dance demonstrations is viewed as an integral part of its purpose.

Washington Contemporary Ballet is committed to maintaining and building upon its current high standards and the enhancement and growth of all of its offerings to its students and the public.

WCB is a Non-Profit 501(c)3 Organization 

​What does this mean?
Non-profit organizations are governed by a Board of Directors and exist for the betterment of the community they serve.  They do not exist to generate a profit that benefits an individual or individuals or to pay dividends. Any surplus revenue generated after expenses is reinvested back into the organization to further its mission.

Washington Contemporary Ballet receives revenue from a number of sources including:

        Tuition  We strive to keep tuition affordable for all of our families. Our programs are competitively                      priced in our continued effort to make classes and performances available to a broader audience.
        Ticket Sales  Four stage performances are produced annually: The Nutcracker, The Metropolitan                   Dance Festival, The Repertory Concert and the All School Recital. All of these performance             opportunities benefit our students, our company dancers, and the community.
         Fund Raisers  From annual Dinner Auctions to Car Washes, Mother's Day Tea and bake sales, our
             organization is always looking for opportunities to raise ​funds in fun and unique ways that involve              parents, families, patrons, and the community. 
         Grants  Non-profit organizations are eligible to receive funding from grant making foundations.
         Individual and Corporate Donors  Donations from generous individuals, business and through                      corporate giving programs are vital to further the mission of Washington Contemporary Ballet.
